OUR PRIORITY

Every child deserves and benefits from access to Reach Out and Read but children who are part of historically marginalized, underserved communities benefit from the program most. When launching new programs, we prioritize:

Even if your clinic doesn’t fall into one of the above priority categories, we encourage you to apply. We will bring on as many new programs as funding permits.

EXPANDING IN FQHCS

Reach Out and Read, Northeast is proud to partner with the Overdeck Family Foundation to ensure that our program reaches as many children served by FQHCs as possible. The Foundation has made it possible for us to offer FQHCs an expedited application process and enhanced financial and technical support.

Reach Out and Read’s National Center uses a single application for all kinds of pediatric primary care sites. Some of the questions on that application do not apply to Federally Qualified Health Centers.

COMING SOON TO MAINE!!

Maine is home to more than 75,000 children under the age of 6. For the past 23 years, another literacy program, Raising Readers met most of their early literacy needs. That program ended in March, 2024. We are working to ensure that early literacy and relational health promotion continue to be an integral part of pediatric primary care in the state.
